Construction at the new Perham High School is moving right along and on schedule. Last week major milestones included: pouring the concrete for the gym floor and closing up the gym space, starting the exterior brick veneer, and starting to set the steel frame at the Career Tech Building.

A potato truck was struck by a train at 64 Elevator Drive in Ottertail Wednesday morning, pushing the truck along the tracks for several yards before coming to a stop. The driver, Kenneth Betts, 32, of Richville sustained serious injuries but the extent of his injuries was not immediately known, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff office. Betts was initially taken by ambulance to Perham Health Hospital, then transported by air to Sanford health Hospital in Fargo. The crew of the train was not injured.
At a special Perham City Council Meeting on September 27, the council approved a request from Steve's Sanitation for Tax Increment Financing for an expansion to their existing facility in the industrial Park, to include approximately 1,600 square feet of office space and 9,375 square feet for an additional truck service facility. Based on building specs for the project, the Otter Tail county assessor valued the project at $815,200, with a corresponding tax increase of $26,589, and a TIF increment of $154,080.
