Motorcyclist suffers broken leg near Mills
The driver of a motorcycle sustained a broken leg in a cycle-deer accident south of New York Mills at 5:46 p.m. on June 12.
The victim, who was taken to the Perham hospital, also sustained other lacerations.
Sheriff deputies said the location of the accident was near the intersection of Highway 67 and 535th Avenue.
Resort employee's paychecks stolen
An employee at a resort on Pelican Lake, north of Pelican Rapids, reported to the sheriff office on June 12 that paychecks were stolen at the resort on June 7 or June 8.
Later, the employee discovered that the paychecks were cashed in Detroit Lakes, totaling $766.25.
An investigation was continuing as of Wednesday, June 13.
Mills woman doesn't take bait from scam artist
A woman from New York Mills, in the process of purchasing a second home down south, saw a red flag when someone down south knowing about the home purchase likely used a text message.
He contacted the Mills woman in hopes of completing a fraudulent transaction. The scam artist asked the women to forward $100,000 to a designated address.
The New York Mills woman, realizing this was likely a scam, contacted the county sheriff office on June 14.
Sheriff deputies remind county residents, when they see something as suspicious, to contact the sheriff office at (218) 998-8555.
Two thefts were reported by county residents to sheriff deputies on June 14.
The first theft took place near Clitherall where a buckthorn puller was missing. The second theft took place near Fergus Falls, where an arc welder was taken.
A trail camera captured evidence related to the theft near Fergus Falls.
I-94 accident, injury
One individual was injured at 4:48 p.m. on June 14 along Interstate 94 in southwestern Otter Tail County.
A vehicle hit the median and a woman sustained a minor injury.
